DESCRIPTION:Terence Bud Crawford (38-0, 29KOs) vs David Avanesyan (29-3-1, 17 KOs) is set for December 10, 2022, in Omaha Nebraska, sources say. Crawford, the reigning WBO welterweight champion, was tirelessly negotiating a unification battle royale with chief rival Errol Spence Jr. ( https://brawlersports.com/ey8o ) (28-0, 22 KOs), the WBC/WBA/IBF champion, but no deal was struck.\nTerence Bud Crawford vs Errol Spence Jr. was supposed to be THE Big Fight for the end of 2022, but the sides have been unable to agree to a proper deal. Both sides are blaming the other, etc.\nBud was formerly with Top Rank, but his rift with CEO Bob Arum boiled over and the 2 split in a very nasty, public rift. Bud has recently signed with BLK Prime, while Spence is currently with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC), run by the enigmatic Al Heymon.\nCrawford is considered by most as the world’s #1 pound-for-pound best fighter, but he has been unable to land a deal to fight other highly-ranked opponents recently. Spence is considered to be the 4th best in the world.\nThe WBC recently ordered Spence to fight former welterweight champ Keith “One Time” Thurman ( https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/34989884/errol-spence-ordered-defend-wbc-title-keith-thurman ). Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs) was once a champion, but lost his title to the legendary Manny Pacquiao, his first and only pro defeat. That fight should take place in the early months of 2023.\nOther contenders are eagerly awaiting their title shots with either fighter:  Eimontas Stanionis, the WBA’s mandatory contender, and Jarron “Boots” Ennis,  the IBF’s mandatory.\nSome believe that, after they win their respective bouts, Bud & Spence will finally get the deal done for a huge bout in Spring 2023, with a possible rematch coming as soon as later that same year.\nA Bud vs Spence is just what boxing needs, but it hasn’t manifested, unfortunately. Once it does, it will be the greatest welterweight bout since the first Sugar Ray Leonard vs Thomas “Hit Man” Hearns, in 1981. It was a scintillating battle that Leonard won by TKO in 14 rounds.\n
