Anthony Joshua Rises to the Occasion Vs Pulev with Impressive 9th Round Stoppage.

Article by Rick Mohamed

Anthony “AJ” Joshua maintained his poise and composure for a perfectly well delivered fight plan vs Kubrat Pulev. At the bell, the champ felt Pulev out, then established the jab in the second round.
By the third round AJ delivered a vicious volley of punches to Pulev bombarding him with upper cuts that caused him to turn totally around with his back to Joshua. This caused the referee to deliver his first standing 8 count. The referee counted Pulev, then allowed the two to continue to box. AJ sent him to the canvas with multiple uppercuts.
Pulev still stood to his feet to continue to fight like a warrior.
Joshua boxed the same as he did in Saudi Arabia in his rematch vs Andy Ruiz. Ruiz stopped him and took all his straps in New York, dealing AJ his first pro loss. This night, AJ seemed calm and relaxed. He knew when to jump in and mix up and when to stay on the outside.
He kept Pulev on the end of his superbly delivered jab all night.
By the 9th round Joshua had him on the run once again. He delivered more of his successful uppercuts that sent Pulev to the canvas. Once again, the eight count is delivered. Pulev stands to his feet once again. Joshua comes at him again with a beautiful 1-2 combination, plus a solid bomb right hand that finished Pulev. The referee counted him out for the stoppage.
Joshua said let’s hear who the fans want to see me fight next, and it was Tyson Fury hands down by the crowd.
Immediately after the fight was stopped, AJ climbed out of the ring to acknowledge and thank the former welterweight champion of the world Floyd “MONEY” Mayweather. Floyd flew from his home in Las Vegas to come support Joshua.
You could also see Floyd delivering some words to the champ on his great performance tonight. We shall see what the outcome will dictate with a Fury Vs Joshua fight.
There is the lawsuit that Wilder has filed regarding his rematch clause, so hold that thought. The word is that Bob Arum said he is confident they can have the AJ VS FURY deal done by the end of next week. We shall see boxing fans. Please share your thoughts on Joshua’s victory tonight. Congratulations to “TEAM JOSHUA”.
