Today is a huge day for Canelo Alvarez, as his coach & manager Eddy Reynosa (press release statement below) has shared that his fighter is now a free agent. Effective today 06 Nov 2020. 

Wow, what does this mean for Golden Boy Promotions, his former promoter? Will this be the nail in the coffin for the CEO Of GB, Olympic Gold Medalist and former Welterweight Champion and boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya? This could cause GB to shut down as an operating promoter. 

Losing cash cow superstar Mexican fighter Canelo Alvarez can’t be good for business right now. My question is did he get freed from his contract with DAZN as well. 

This will be interesting to see if reason for the split was Oscar & DAZN getting Canelo lackluster fights. Now, will Canelo take full control and responsibility in seeking only fights with the best of the best? Will we see him battle the cream of the crop elite fighters only moving forward?
