Article by Rick Mohamed

Former world champion Amir Khan was named the new President of the WBC Middle East Boxing Council. Make no mistake, he’s already been active in his new job.
WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman appointed Khan, a former champion, this lofty role in order to attract the regional talent dotting the Middle East. Khan is perfectly suited to be a great boxing ambassador who will lure that talent.
“I am confident that under the leadership of champion Amir Khan, the culturally diverse Middle East region will provide a unique platform for the proper development of our sport, and with time, to produce a new batch of WBC champions”, said Sulaiman in a statement.
Khan revealed via social media his brand new presidential office and the official duties he will carry out.
He also announced that the new title will be on the line, though the 2 fighters weren’t announced yet, on December 19.
Middle eastern boxing fans rejoice: the WBC has taken brave and bold step towards finding diamonds in the rough in terms of talent in the region. Other regions should be so fortunate.
