Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, believes that former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder would knock Tyson Fury out cold if they fought come July 24 in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV.. Ellerbe said that Fury fought the very best fight he could ever fight when he KO’d Wilder in 7 rounds last Feb. 2020.
Wilder is a year older, plus he’s a year wiser. he wants to get the title back. He’s been training harder, showing on video the new training methods he’s been employing to help him win again.
Recently, a federal judge, Arbitrator Weinstein ruled in Wilder’s favor, saying that Fury must fight Wilder for the title by Set. 15. He did, however, leave room for Fury to keep his appointment to fight heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua on Aug 14 in Saudi Arabia.
All that needs to happen is for Wilder to agree to waive the ruling and accept a “step-aside” fee to allow them to fight, as long as the winner fights him, sometime in November or December.
Wilder may be asking for as much as $20 million.
However, Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum, shocked by the arbitrator’s decision, said that an exorbitant step-aside fee is totally out of the question. As a result, he’s reserved Allegiant Stadium (home of the Raiders) on July 24 for Fury vs. Wilder III. Ellerbe says,: “There’s a whole new Deontay Wilder that they ain’t seen”.
