BREAKING NEWS: Keyshawn Davis Beats Hovhannes Bachkov 5-0, Goes for Gold Sunday

Article by Rick Mohamed

Tokyo, Japan (August 6, 2021) Keyshawn Davis won his lightweight semifinal match at the Tokyo Olympics, a 5-0 unanimous decison over Armenia’s Hovhannes Bachkov. He advances to the gold medal final vs. Andy Cruz of Cuba. At the 2019 AIBA Boxing World Championships, Davis defeated Bachkov, but lost to Cruz 5-0, so Davis will be looking to avenge that loss.

Davis is aiming to become the first American fighter to win Olympic gold since Andre Ward won the gold medal in 2004 at the Athens Olympics. “Man, I feel like it’s going to be easier for me,’’ Davis told USA Today regarding his rematch vs Cruz, “Like I said, I’m bigger, faster, stronger, smarter.’’
