LIVE Interview: Former 2X WBC Super Middleweight Champ David Benavidez Speaks!

Article by Rick Mohamed

David Benavidez talks about his upcoming bout w/Jose Uzcategui, then brings the heat by calling out Canelo, Charlo and Plant

David Benavidez sat down with Brawlers Sports Media CEO Rick Mohamed for a LIVE interview* that touched on a variety of subjects that surround this upcoming young former 2X WBC super middleweight champion.
Benavidez, sporting an impressive record of 24-0 w/21 KOs, has never lost in the ring, but has unfortunately beaten himself. losing the title twice before. However, he is ranked among the top 2 or 3 super middleweights, behind the champion Canelo Alvarez (WBA & WBC).
He is looking to continue his climb back to the top with an August 28 fight vs. Jose Uzcategui. After that, who knows? The sky’s the limit: Canelo, WBO champ Billy Joe Saunders (after his unification bout w/Canelo on May 8), Caleb Plant (also looking to unify the title vs. the winner of the Canelo/Saunders fight sometime later this year), Jermall Charlo, and fellow KO artist Edgar Berlanga, who is currently 17-0, with 17 first round KOs.
Benavidez is eager to mix it up with anyone who is willing to fight him. He’s looking at the recent slew of big money fights between inexperienced Youtuber brothers Jake and Logan Paul as reasons to finally get in the ring with other big name fighters.
Tyson Fury battling Deontay Wilder twice, then setting up a pair of unification bouts with Anthony Joshua are clear examples showing that this is becoming very possible in the near future. David Benavidez intends to be in the mix when that happens. Thanks for the interview, champ, and the best of success to Team Benavidez! LETSGOCHAMP
