Boxing's Comeback: It's Hotter Than Fish Grease Right Now!

Article by Rick Mohamed

Boxing is emerging from the Pandemic in a big way, and Brawlers Sports breaks it all down…!

Boxing is shaking off the cobwebs and starting to break out. With more and more people being vaccinated and fewer people getting sick, the world is beginning to open (in some places, that is).
The Reopening is starting to happen, and the boxing game is hotter than fish grease right now. New players, such as Triller and the emergence of the Paul Brothers, have created huge buzz and generated large pay per view buys.
While some, especially the older, more established boxing personnel and fans disregard these changes as nothing more tan a passing fancy, others see it as the wave of the future that should be nurtured and guided. In this edition of the Brawlers Sports Boxing Show Podcast, CEO Rick Mohamed welcomes a new member to the team, his son Govanti.
“Gmoney” is currently a contributing author to the blog, and will be seen more and more in the future. The father & son duo discuss the return of former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder to training, Canelo Alvarez’ upcoming super middleweight unification bout on May 8 vs. the UK’s Billy Joe Saunders, Bud Crawford, Mikey Garcia and Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao: who will fight each other next?
The duo missed mentioning another big fight occurring on May 1: former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. longtime contender Chris Arreola. These are 2 hard nosed Mexican fighters eager to force their way into the heavyweight championship conversation.
This may be Arreola’s last chance after squandering previous attempts. Ruiz is on the comeback trail after having lost the title to Anthony Joshua, a man he defeated previously to win the title.
He has gotten serious, lost a bunch of weight, seems in shape and looks ready to earn another shot at the title.
Also, Katie Taylor, the ladies’ unified queen in the lightweight division, puts all her titles on the line vs. Natasha Jonas as the top feature of the undercard of the Dereck Chisora vs. Joseph Parker heavyweight battle at AO Arena in Manchester, UK.. Irishwoman Taylor, one of the more accomplished lady fighters in the world today, wants to become more vicious.
She feels that she can dispatch her opponents much easier if she does. She is fresh off her defeat of Miriam Gutierrez in a lackluster performance. This time, she really wants to shine.
Natasha Jonas, a latecomer to the sport of boxing, is coming off a draw vs. Terri Harper for the WBO & IBO super featherweight titles. At 36, she doesn’t have much time left, so if the British-born Jonas wants to win her first ever professional championship, this may be her last chance to do it.
The main event of the Taylor vs. Jonas fight is the All-Brit heavyweight squabble between Dereck Chisora vs. Joseph Parker. This has been a long time in the making: 18 months ago, the 2 were scheduled to fight, but Parker fell ill.
Then the Pandemic slowed everything to a crawl. Now, there’s even more bad blood between theses 2 contenders. They’re ready to settle things once and for all, with the winner getting closer to a title shot. LETSGOCHAMP
