Young Gun Ryan Garcia Rings in New Year - Stops Campbell in 7!!

Recovers from 2nd Rd. Knockdown, Calls Out Boxing’s Best.

Many thought Ryan Garcia had bit off more than he could chew in taking on the likes of “Cool Hand” Luke Campbell. However, Garcia proved them all wrong.
Garcia came out from the bell taking charge of the fight. He was the aggressor, walking Campbell down most of the fight. Campbell caught the young Garcia making a rookie mistake: he dropped his right hand and paid the price.
A straight left from Campbell sent Garcia to the canvas in the 2nd round for the first time in his career. Garcia surprised everyone when he took the 8 count, got up, and continued fighting like a seasoned world champion.
All the doubters have to eat their words after seeing what Garcia is made of. They only see a social media fighter who is just a lot of talk. Garcia has shown that he’s much more than that. Campbell stood his ground and showed why he’s a tough customer and continued to fight.
Garcia hurt Campbell with a left hook at the end of the 6th round, but the bell saved Campbell. Had the bell not sounded it would have been over.
Garcia absorbing his first knock down early in his career is a good thing. This is where we see what he’s made of; his character rose to the occasion.
Garcia is now in a position to call out the top dogs at 135: Tank Davis, Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopez , and Shakur Stevenson! The Young Prince is on his throne, guys, and his name is Ryan Garcia.
Well I believe Garcia just catapulted his career tonight and made himself a boxing superstar. Last year we had Teofimo calling out Loma and delivering a victory. Later, Garcia stepped up, challenged Luke Campbell and won with a devastating left hook to the body. Campbell’s face cringed, then he dropped to the canvas. He could not continue and was counted out. Congratulations to Team Garcia!

UPDATE: Matchroom's Eddie Hearn Orders Ryan Garcia's Next Fight - vs. Devin Haney!

If’s not official yet, but Matchroom, DAZN and Golden Boy have pretty much agreed that Ryan Garcia will next fight Devin Haney in an epic title fight. The match may take place on April 21, 2021, with venue and undercard to be announced later. The decision may have been made prior to the Garcia vs. Campbell fight, contingent on Garcia’s winning the fight, of course.

Garcia won the fight by a brutal 7th round KO after getting up off the canvas from a thumping knockdown from Campbell. This only increases the excitement for what may be the biggest fight of the year so far.

The fight will be for the WBC lightweight belt. Garcia & Haney are 2 of the most popular up and coming fighters. Today’s “Youtube Generation” eagerly watches their match results and various commentaries in the millions.

Haney last fought on Nov. 7, 2020, when he defeated Yuriorkis Gamboa by a unanimous decision.
