Gary Antuanne Russell Breaks Down Jovanie Santiago for 6th Rd. Stoppage!

Gary Antuanne Russell, younger brother of WBC featherweight champ Gary Russell & trained by their father Gary Russell Sr., looked sharp in victory over Santiago; wants Adrien Broner next!

Super lightweight sensation Gary Antuanne Russell picked apart Jovanie Santiago on SHOWTIME PBC, scoring a TKO after the 6th round. From the opening bell, Russell came out in the southpaw stance & got his jab working early.
He was able to deliver plenty of damage on Santiago in doing so. Russell worked beautifully to the body and back up top with his powerful right hook. Though Santiago tried everything in his powers to weather the storm, Russell proved to be more than he could handle.
Russell dropped Santiago with a clean right hook in the 4th round that sent Santiago to the canvas. Russell continued to walk Santiago down, delivering more and more damage to the body and back up to the head.
Santiago was outclassed and out boxed, period! Russell displayed great poise and composure throughout the fight, listening to big brother the WBC Featherweight Champ of the World Gary Russell Jr. and his father Russell Sr.
They told Antuanne to ‘take his time, dont rush it, let it happen naturally, and to remain in control’. After the end of the 6 round, Santiago told his corner he’d had enough and couldn’t continue, which led his team to waiving the fight off to the referee.
This was just before the bell was to sound going into round 7.
Afterwards, Russell was asked would he like to fight Adrien “The Problem” Broner as his next fight. Russell gladly said yes. When Russell was asked would Broner agree to fight him, he replied ‘that will be Broner’s decision to make, not mine’.
In my personal opinion, I believe that Russell would stop Broner, if you will. Boxing fans, what are your thoughts on Russell Vs Broner for his next fight? Congrats to ”Team Russell” on another great superb boxing clinic. Until next time,
