Vasily Lomachenko is Ready for a Rematch with Teofimo Lopez Now
Article by Rick Mohamed
Vasily Lomachenko, after a brutal beating of Masayoshi Nakatani, says he’s ready for Loma vs. Lopez II, but will Teofimo Lopez take him up on his offer?
Las Vegas, June 26, 2021: Vasily Lomachenko beat Masayoshi Nakatani handily, knocking him out in the 9th round for the victory. Now, the man we call “Loma” appears to be ready to avenge his loss last year to Teofimo “The Takeover” Lopez.
His handlers and Lopez’ team appear to be working on a suitable deal to make this rematch happen. All it takes is for Lopez and Loma to sign the dotted line and make it official. Lopez is slated to fight George Kambosos Jr. On Aug. 14th @Miami’s loanDepot Park.
Loma lost to Lopez in the first fight, losing his belts and diminishing the luster of his bright and shining career. Lopez took the fight to Loma early, winning early, then weathering Loma’s storm in the latter rounds to get the victory.
Afterwards, Loma claimed his shoulder was injured, hampering his performance and denying him the win. He received shoulder surgery that appeared to validate his claims and silence his naysayers who accused him of using poor excuses for his loss. After his dominant performance vs. Nakatani, Loma eliminated all doubt: look for the rematch!
